Cardigan by Taylor Swift

 This week, I went on a date to an obscure little restaurant. I was a little worried about the food quality because it was a vegan food place. It ended up being fine (aggressively fine). BUT in the middle of the date, I heard the sound of high heels on cobblestones, and I stopped eating immediately. Because that's the intro to this song

Soon, I heard Taylor Swift's voice, and my mind went completely blank. I've been on a date with this guy before, so he knows how much I love Taylor Swift, and said, "It's okay, you can cry"

And I did. I really did! Because it's my favorite song from Taylor Swift's newest album, folklore, and I was Not Expecting to hear it that day. That's the thing, your favorite song/artist means so much more when you don't expect to hear it that day, but then you DO. I had also never heard any songs from folklore on the radio before, so it really caught me off guard!!! Anyway, I'll leave you with the best lines from the song (accompanied by memes that describe how I feel when I hear these lines), because Taylor really outdid herself with this one.

I really thought I would only leave you with a few lines, and then I realized that the whole bridge was crafted by the hands of an angel and I couldn't split it up. So, there you go.

I could also probably say that this song reminds me of my toxic cheating ex who literally just came back and told me that he misses me AGAIN this weekend, but where's the fun in that???

    Dang this post was too much for me. I'm sorry your ex is a jerk and that you cried on a date (I think, but maybe it's a good thing?) but I've been trying to get into somewhat respecting Taylor Swift and this is a good place to start. I'm glad (?) listening to TS helps you work through your feelings.

My parents' favorite show is Seinfeld. When I was younger, they'd watch it after my sisters and I went to bed because it was too inappropriate for children. I would be in my bed down the hall, listening to my parents laugh and laugh (especially my dad) and wonder what I was missing that was so funny!  Sometimes, if I couldn't sleep, I would walk out to the living in my little nightgown, bleary-eyed and try to speak to my parents over the sounds of Jerry Seinfeld's beginning or ending monologue. Creating Less Distractions for Myself

The day after our lecture on how distracting our phones and multitasking can be, I decided to utilize Dr. Coyne's idea of turning off my notifications when I'm trying to focus. I didn't put my phone on airplane mode, because it trips out my phone for a bit when I do, but I turned my phone on Do Not Disturb and put it across the room. That day, I got so much homework done, and I was so energized in doing it!  The next day, because I didn't have too much I needed to get done, I wasn't as excited about the prospect of staying focused, and I got out of the habit. As I was writing this blog though, I remembered my commitment to stop multitasking so much, and I turned my phone and computer on Do Not Disturb again. It has felt good to be intentional with the focused time that I give to tasks.  I think I might also use my phone to keep my brain awake as I do homework though, so I am honestly nodding off a bit while writing this. Phantom of the Opera: Apparently I Have a Thing for Bad Guys??

Maybe this blog should be a spotlight of bad characters who I believe deserved better. First Zuko, and now the Phantom. Maybe next week I should talk about Draco Malfoy.... stay tuned. This week I watched one of my all-time favorite movies, one of the first things I ever hyper-fixated on in media,  Phantom of the Opera .  My parents would play the musical soundtrack every Halloween as we carved pumpkins. When I was 11 years old, my older sister explained the plot to me, and I realized that I needed  to see the movie. Pretty dresses, love songs, and attractive men in old period clothing??? How could I resist? (I'm starting to realize how much I have never changed... wow) Since the movie was rated PG-13, my parents told me I wasn't allowed to see it for another couple of years.
